Would you purchase this tire again? no way Comments Very disappointed. Not suitable for the Pacific West Coast climate. This X- Ice i2 (not the older original X- Ice) tire is horribly overpriced. Yes, the rubber compound is very soft. The softest rubber on a tire that I have felt, however that still won't get you up on an icy hill/grade, even of a few degrees. These tires can handle dry snow very well, so could all seasons, but they're awful in slushy or wet snow conditions. I had my tires spinning even with a tiny bit of acceleration in first or second gear. Corning is also slopply. The tread is not aggressive and it felt over wet snow. The icy compound will do you good if you drive very very very slowly over ice on a level road. Getting going would still be a problem. Bottom line, save your money and get yourself some tire chains/cables instead. If you insist on snow tires, buy the least expensive ones that are rated for severe winter weather AND a set of chains. Avoid the marketing and the hype. The rubber.tire industry would want everyone to have two or more sets of tires, it's good for them, but bad for you.
